Where can I get a cable box for an old 70s VHF/UHF TV?
Answer:
Depends. You want analog cable? If it's still available in your area, go on Ebay and get a box for real cheap (usually hacked for free HBO, etc. But be sure to tell the cable company that you have free HBO or else that would be illegal and I'm not advocating that!)
Digital cable will require a box, usually rented from the cable company.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but do you only have the two screws to hook up rabbit ears? If so, then the previous poster is right, you can get a real cheap converter for that at Radio Shack to hook up your analog hack box, or the digital box. Good luck. Email me if you need more help..
listen to your dad the only legal way to get cable is to rent the box from the cable company
You really don't need a cable box. You just need a UHF/VHF antenna to F-connector (Radio Shack). Then, you can take a coax cable from the wall to the F-connector. You can get channels 1-70 without a cable box.
This is what I did for my parent's 30 year old TV.
You only need a cable box to get digital cable and movie channels.
if they hook up the way i think they do, you would need a rf modurater! walmart sells them! i got a very old tv with the coax type antanna and screw type for UHF!
