What should i go for Plasma or LCD (im getting it for sports and movies)?

Answer:
Each technology has advantages and disadvantages. Plasma has deeper blacks, more accurate color and faster response to rapidly-changing pictures and is better for optimized viewing (such as a movie room), especially at screen sizes above 40 inches; LCD is lighter, less fragile, more energy efficient, can provide a brighter picture and is better for bright rooms and much other non-critical viewing.

There are only a few sizes (40-50 inches or so)where the two technologies overlap, If your room is generally dark and you are watching sports and movies, I'd recommend Plasma.
depends on your room you are putting it in if by a window go with plasma but if its in darker room then it doesnt matter
When we bought our LCD, they recommended that LCD is not so good for sports.

This seems to be the case as there is always a haze around soccer / rugby / etc players.

Although this may not be due to the type of screen, maybe some other factor such as what cameras they use, I don't know.

I believe the people recommended plasma for sports.
if it's cheap, don't bother. a CRT TV will out perform it by miles and it will look so much crisper and better.

if you want a good plasma or LCD, you have to spend big money (there's no bargains in this line, my friend).
Well they are nearly identical now as far as resolution, so I would say go with the plasma if you want to get a wall mount. LCD's are still a bit pricey, and not quite as thin. I just bought a 42 inch plasma w/ a wall mount, and I'm happy. HD truly is leaps and bounds above a regular signal. Good luck!
Plasma is better for sports. The LCD technology can't follow the speed
If you have any windows where your tv is going don't get plasma, the light makes a horrible picture.
"Some" of the responses seem to actually know a little of what they are talking about, but not all. LOL The business about plasmas not working well in a bright(?) room is just so much crap, with CURRENT technology. This myth is based on the plasma glass screen vs. the LCD's plastic. You will probably get a better picture on a plasma for fast action sports and for movies. Look at a bunch of both, and you make the decision.
1st check out getting a PROJECTOR i have found out thats a FANTASTIC way to have a big screen flat tv without the cost!
