What are the downfalls of each type of HDTV: DLP, Plasma, and LCD?
Answer:
Adding to the guy above
DLP-Picture never degrades, pop a new bulb in every 2 years and picture is good as new. Bigger Screen size for the $ and picture.
Plasma- Heavy, reflective screen, fragile, more expensive for the size. Higher contrast ratios and over all better sharper clearer image.
LCD-Both plasma and LCD have a life span of 60,000 hours ( if quality name brand). Lighter, non reflective screen, pixel lag,
Plasma, and LCD have less life than others..
Plasma screens need to be replaced every...I think 5-7 years. DLPs can be quite large. LCD's in my opinion are the best out of the three. Every plasma and LCD I have seen looks fantastic but I have seen a few "less than perfect" DLPs.
DLP - some people see the "rainbow effect", bulb can be expensive to replace.
Plasma - screen burn in if static image left on too long, power consumption can be high.
LCD - black level not as good as plasma, blurring of fast moving images due to pixel lag
