My TV turns on by itself and the volume shoots up full blast and the ONLY WAY to shut it up is to unplug it! WHAT"S WRONG???

Answers: The tv remote control works next to infrared signals, it is likely that in that is an infrared leak somewhere implicit your tv and it (the tv.) 'understands' it as turn on / blast sound.
Block the receptor on the tv.
