I have a TINY dvd recorder hooked upto my plasma tv & sky+ box,recordingd off sky channels are fine when i?

play back but there is no sound,i have a split optical cable going from the back of my amp to both my dvd recorder & sky + box,i have tried connecting various red & white audio cables between the sky box and the dvd recorder aswell but nothing seems to work, can anyone help ?

Try switching AV channels. Some boxes switch off audio when they detect another source.
