Please!..How do i get the best from my New LCD TV ?

Hi everyone!...I've recently purchased a Panasonic (viera) 26 inch LCD... The picture via my cheap (£40)sony DVD player is excellent, but the picture via Aerial is poor (very Grainy),is there anything i can do to improve this?..the picture on my Sony CRT (30 inch) is very good via Aerial?..I'm baffled by this!..My area (Rhondda South Wales) does not have Digital TV yet!...i haven't got "Sky",Do you think it's because the TV is built with Digital in mind?.i've tried doing a search but have hit a brick wall!.. May i point out that i am aware of using quality leads to improve Quality of picture/sound ,Thanks for reading this lenthy explanation,.coco

In my opinion public are being taken in by salespeople who we turn for advice. They do not outright say that the picture in the showroom is not what we will get at home. They let us assume that whats we will get. They forget! to mention what else we need( HD boxes etc) to get the same reception.

I bought Samsung 37 " LCD and have Virgin Media cable.
BIG MISTAKE!!. Its not samsung, its the 37" size and HD Ready and the price.
By the way I bought it just 5 weeks ago from J ewis. I am one week late and cannot return it for 32" one

Is there any way pr pretext I can ask J Lewis for reurn

Would appreciate
OK. i have the answer you need. see you bought an HDTV but you don't have hd programing. that's why you seen the grains.

the fact that hdtv has over twice any many lines pixels if you will going across your tv. standard tv and standard hdtv can't fill the lines up. so what your seeing is literally holes empty space in your tv. you have two good choices

one. buy either an upscale dvd player it'll cost you almost nothing. but it'll take your standard dvds and it'll fill in the lines to the point it'll almost look hd.

two. you can see about getting hdtv programing from your local cable or satilite providers.

either way you still need an upscale dvd player also know as hdmi dvd players to get your dvd to play at a higher quality
The reason is not because its hd and you don't have hd channels, the TVs are actually hd READY, meaning that will be able to broadcast programmes filmed in hd. It could be the cables you are using as flat screen TVs need good quality cables to get the most out of the picture try gold plated cables they stop interference from moisture, dust etc, you can get them at any electrical retailer
I know how you feel. I have just purchased a 32 inch Samsung HD ready TV. I have Virgin Media cable...and the pictures are rubbish. Not what I expected. I am disappointed.
that tv has to get a digital signal no matter what the analog that you have is the worst thing for it
i sell these every day and they look like crap on analog which is what you have hope this helps
