What are some good brands for a large LCD TV?

I've been told to keep away from Samsung and LG, has anyone heard about any good ones?

Answer:
Read some reviews!
Try www.LCDtvbuyingguide.com and the 3/07 issue of Consumer Report. Most would say these represent reasonable quality: Sony, Sharp (beware of reported banding problems), Toshiba, Panasonic, and Hitachi.
Whether LCD or Plasma, stay away from Phillips and Magnavox (same mfg.)! Way to many consumer complaints.
ill say this in one word i cant spell to save my life hitachi i think is how you spell it O_o
Hitatchi, samsung, sony and sharp. Also the Toshiba models aren't bad either.
The two best brands here in America are sony and panasonic nothing better trust me.
Sony is the best
the best ranked lcd maker is sharp aquos. and i believe the best ranked for plasma is phillips
