Is there anyway of getting TV channels without a on the roof TV aerial in the UK?

You can get 5 or 6 channels from an indoor aeriel. But the best thing is to buy a tv with built in freeview, I got a little LCD on eBay gets 30+ channels with the indoor aeriel it came with.

Some areas in the UK such as Harlow, Essex are aerial free zones and terrestrial TV is supplied (free) via ntl: (now Virgin TV) cable.

I can get most of the 5 channels with an inside aerial but that does mean moving it around everytime we have to change channels.

Digital is coming shortly, so you will need an outdoor aerial or dish, or go cable.
I have freeview and I use a loop aerial attached to my digibox/TV in the bedroom and I get `perfect` reception. :-)

YES.you can use a set top aerial...if you live in Dover or Maidstone you'll be able to get any channel you want.
