What delivers better picture Quality lcd or plasma?

price is not a option, also what brands?

Answer:
Well my parents have a LG 42" plasma and I have a 42" Viewsonic LCD. I have watched both tvs a lot and I love my LCD. I have an HD DVD player, and a HD antenna hooked up to my LCD tv and its an awsome picture. I've watched HD cable on my parents' plasma and its nice, but its not the same. My LCD surprisenly looks like it has more vivid colors in HD. Smooth, but crisp too. The only thing I notice is, like most LCD computer monitors if you get wayyyy of to the side the color kinda looks different. I don't see that with the plasma, but who actually watches their tv at that extream of an angle? The LCD uses less power, is more durable (great for shipping/transit), supposedly last longer, the light is replacable, no burn in, and I've seen that the plasma and lcd tvs are equally bright with great contrast. Most people will tell you the numbers on brightness and plasmas wich show the lcd's to be much dimmer and less contrast, but if they were tested the same they actually are equal (I've also been told that LCD's are better in this category sometimes too). My LCD tv is very bright in all lighting conditions. Black levels, contrast and gtg response time are great too. The older LCD tv's and the complaint of slow response time wich would cause fast moving media like sports and games would be blurred. I have watched sports and fast action movies and its an awsome picture. Besides this info, go to a Bestbuy, Circuit City, Sams Club, or some store that has tv's setup side by side and let your eyes be the judge.
I think lcd is better because it uses less energy and has better picture quality. LG and samsung makes great LCDs.
The best plasma is made by Pioneer, there plasmas are soo hot they cant be no one can come close to their 1080 plasma. Plasma will always have the better picture.

Followed by the Toshiba plasma, then Panasonic,Hitachi,Mitsubishi

Sony makes the Best LCDs their XBR versions are top knotch followed by the Toshiba Regza..

Stay away from Walmart junk and Samsung,Phillips/Magnavox junk, they have the highest failure rates above all other. Most low quality units break right after warranty.
If you buy Viewsonic, prepare to listen to alot of music. Especially once the warranty is up cause' you ain't gettin' it fixed. Period !
I would go with LCD. And also I can get you great LCD tvs for a great price just let me know what size and I can also forward you to the website if interested.
