I think I want a flat panel LCD TV. Can you replace the lamp, bulb, or whatever that creates the image??
Answer:
Well..when your TALKING LCD.there are 2 LCD types.
Below 40 and above 40...
Below 40 inch LCDs are about the MOST RELIABLE TVs you'll ever see, lamps are replaceable, but won't fail for years and years.
ABOVE 40 TV sets are kinda reliable...they're built well, but the MERCURY VAPOR LAMPS last 2-3 years and cost about $250 each...
RIGHT NOW, I'm avoiding the Mercury Vapor lamp units, because they came out with SOLID STATE LAMPS.LED and Laser lamps are very efficient and will last longer than ANY mercury vapor lamp would...
But boyyyyyyyyy are they pricey.and new technology too..
contact the manufacturers ie sony and ask
Most decent LCD lamps are fairly easy to replace, and they will wear out after a certain number of hours. You can order replacements from the manufacturers. I know that Sony lamps are usually around $300 to replace, but the price will vary depending upon brand.
