Can a TV from 1989 hook up to a DVD player and work?

My Sony TV works wonderfully, but I want to hook a DVD player up to it, does anyone know if such an old TV can handle the new technology? Thanks.

Answer:
A TV only serves as a "monitor" for broadcasts and other things. As long as it has "red-white-yellow" ports, or at least "white-yellow" (these are usually labeled "video, audio, etc...), then it should work.
Try going down to your nearest radio shack or the source and look for a RF modulator. That should take the dvd outputs and convert them so they can go into the T.V.
If you get a Modulator it should work fine.
yes it can but you need to buy a RF modulator to convert the RCA jacks to the older TV hookups just ask the electronic dept at walmart tell them you want to hook an older TV to a DVD player should cost between 20-30$
Here is a link to get what they call an RF Modulator which will allow you to hook up that dvd to it.
