Can anybody give information about different types of tuners?

TV tuners work very similarly to radio tuners.
Tuner comprises in simple form
( 1 ) RF amplifier
( 2 ) Local oscilater
( 3 ) Mixer stage .
RF signal from TV ( or ) radio station is connected to tuner from antenna and is amplified by ( 1 ) RF amplifier .
Amplified signal then is fed into ( 3 ) the mixer stage where it meets the ( 2 ) local oscilater . The local oscilater is a circuit that generates an RF signal .
The results of mixing together the incoming Rf signal and the local oscilater produce the signal known as the IF ( or intermediate frequency ) .
Now this IF signal remains constant frequency which is usualy a lot lower than the original which makes for easyier amplification.
The tuner there fore has RF in from antenna and IF out ( plus 12volts supply ) plus other connections like afc , tuning voltage ( if varicap tuner ) and agc oh and maybe band switching.
Well thats the tuner explanation over with , the information ie video and sound are taken from the iF amp by the video and the sound detectors. Anyway you only asked for the tuner !!
