How can I calibrate my T.V, I've tried making it darker, but its still to bright?
Answer:
It is confusing, but Brightness adjusts "blacks" (how deep are your blacks)
Picture "brightness" or actually white color is adjusted by Contrast.
Check if you have a DVD movie with the THX Optimizer Logo (Star Wars, Finding Nemo, etc.) and it includes test pictures to adjust your TV.
Sometimes you can adjust the color density. This is different than contrast. It's also different than the color adjustment that makes your screen more green or more red. You might try it if you TV has this adjustment. Some don't. I don't like a bright TV screen, or computer monitor for that matter. It's too hard on my eyes. Good luck.
If you need to replace it, try used appliance stores or pawn shops. Just make sure you try it out before purchasing as it won't come with a warranty. I work at a pawn shop and we regularly sell 19" and 25" for $35-$50 and we never take in anything older than 5 years old. So, be careful about the age of a TV.
Good luck!
