LCD v's plasma?

What is the maximum I should pay for a 106cm LCD TV? Also, is there a LOT of difference in the quality from brand to brand? No-one from Harvey Norman please.

Answer:
A 42" LCD HDTV should run you about $1500 USD maximum. A 42" plasma HDTV could run about $500 more, depending on the quality and features of the set.

Yes, there can be a great deal of difference from brand to brand. Some focus on features, others on black levels, others on sound quality, others on video clarity. Read up on reviews (from sites like cnet.com) for different products for more info.
There is alot of difference in brand quality.

1, they are not made to last and poor picture quality

and the other reliable, the best picture and great support but 2x the cost (hence quality costs).

Sony
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
Pioneer

The best.

I would recommend this Tv. The screen is a massive resolution LCD and its not that expensive. Its future proof.

Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000

Plasmas cannot compete against LCDs of this quality.
