HDTV ruins everything because most things are still filmed in standard definition and once you watch things in HD you will want to watch everything in HD and SD looks like crap on HD-TVs so it just completely ruins your life.
i´d get one now, i don´t think that the prices will come down a lot. And the earlier you have it the longer you can enjoy all the fun. As Hd-DVD's are becoming more and more common you will be able to enjoy TV to the fullest!

TV's are going the way of computers. By that I mean that yes, you can wait 6 months and what you were going to buy will be cheaper, but then there is going to be something better out. And you can wait another 6 months for that one to come down in price, but once more, something better will be on the horizon.
You can wait forever and get nothing and save lots of money, but if you want a TV, just buy one now.
