Desperate!! Help Me Fix My * * T.V.**?
Answer:
Since you got a picture on the pip the TV has two tuners. The main tuner obviously has a problem. Have you tried switching this pip to the main pic? If you do and it doesn't work then it sounds like you need to get the main tuner replaced.
Do you mean degaussing when you talk about the defusing etc? Degaussing won't fix this problem. Degaussing is used to fix the magnetic field in the TV - gets rid of rainbow colors etc.
A lot of repair shops will give estimates for a minimal charge. It might be worth having it looked at. Maybe you could explain to them what happened and they can find a good used tuner to replace the one that is damaged. If you are electronically inclined (even though I work for a repair shop I am NOT) you may be able to purchase the tuner and replace it yourself (not recommended as there is soldering involved and can get quite complicated). Good luck.
First damage control: If the people who helped you were professionals, you can try to ask for compensation for damages to your TV. If they are your "friends", then there is not much you can do, but maybe if they are true friends they can contribute to fix your TV.
Now popping sounds: Capacitors that blow do make popping sounds. Since you have no clue on electronics, I would advise against opening the back. There are some high voltages there and you can easily fry yourself. There is nothing much you can do except taking it to a shop.
I don`t think that the popping sounds were capacitors going . I would guess something to do with one of the tuners ( pip ) . Wait and see if Fecomosis answers as he is good on Sony or Peachy who is good on the large modern TVs.
Don`t worry XCITED I dont know what "debugging de ground " is either and I have been in TV for years and years !. I would love to hear an explanation of that !!
Cheers Pete
