Will programs broadcast in 1080p look bad on a 780 HD TV?

First, make sure that the 720p TV that you are looking at supports 1080p. Only the latest 720p TVs support 1080p. TVs that came out in previous years only supported up to 1080i.
Second, HD stations will not broadcast in 1080p for awhile. Most stations don't even broadcast in 1080i.
Third, 1080p will still look good on a 720p TV, but not as good as a 1080p TV. It will still look better than 480p. Downscaling always results in a better image, than an upscaled image because of the way scaling works.
what?? actually its called 720p, and yes 1080p is and will be better than 720p, its 360 lines better, but nothing is out in 1080p except blu ray and ps3...im not sure when 1080p will be broadcast by cable or satelite companys
It's just that the TV will only go UP to 720p and stop. It will not effect the TV Set's ability to show the picture, it just will not be 1080. There will be no change in picture quality for you. Why would you want to spend the bucks to go HD, and not for "the full Monty", though. A few more dollars, and you will have the 1080i, at least
