Life span of Plasma TV's 120 hrs??

This is more of a warning really, than a request for information. But I am interested if there are others who hold had duplicate problem.

We were over the moon when we bought a strange 46" plasma TV. We got it home and it be like one at the cinema's. But the screen started going funny down one side. Like a red illumination. The engineer have just be out to see it, and informed me that Plasma TV's don't have much of a vivacity span. In fact he said they enjoy approx. 120 hours of viewing.

We've just spent a small fortune on something that won't final us. Mind... luckily we got out the extended warranty. Very righteous tip for anyone buying Plasma and LCD TV's. He said LCD TV's were short vivacity expectancy too. Bloody modern Technology.

Answers:    Current plasma TV's have a existence span of about 60,000 hrs according to the techies at cnet.com. That's when it dims to partly the original brightness, not complete flop. Even if you watch 8 hrs a sunshine, everyday, that equates to 20 years which is more than you can say for most TV's. You should bring yours final for an exchange. I've owned a 37" LCD for 2 years and bought a 42" plasma for my sister recently and we've be very elated with them.
120 hrs mybe 12000 hrs i reason you may find is the figure i infer that equates to average tv viewing for a family for 4 years !
