I have 20 ft. of legal cable wire I use for my downstairs tv. How do I use the same wire for my upstairs tv?

I think it's legal to do so... I know I could just unplug the cable wire from my downstairs tv but I want the option to watch tv both down and upstairs. What should I do?

Answer:
The people above have it right. A splitter will do. You can get them anywhere. They sell them a Walgreens now (CVS, Rite Aid - whatever you got).

And it's totally legal.
Splitter and a amplifier. Running that much cable will degrade your signal. Head to your local Radio Shack or Fry's for good quality cable and amplifier.
You need a splitter.
You can get a splitter from wal -mart. (Its the same concept of a power strip, one power supply, multi plug- ins) you'll then have a second cable source to run wherever you want. You will need an extra wire. I don't reccomend trying to cut the wire to make two seperate cords. I tried it and, the end peice kept coming off. Happy channel surfing...
if you want to connect one instead of the other, there should be no problem...if you want to add an extension, you should call the cable company, they're usually not so generous.
if its less then 100ft then you don't need an amplifier, just get a 1 input to 2 output tv splitter, it may be called a 2 way. you need the wire coming from the cable company to the splitter and then one output hooks up to tv#1 and then the other output of the splitter to TV #2 from what it sounds like you may need to buy another cable or two to go from the splitter and the tvs

the wire/splitter is called coax or is some times called RG-6 or RG-59, the connectors on the cable and splitter are called "F"

E-mail or IM me if you need more info (my info is in my profile)
if you do not have a cable box or high speed modem hooked up in your house to that line you can split the line with a 2 way splitter you do not need a amplifier save your money the federal goverment says you can do what you want with the cable in your house however if you ever have a problem with either of those tvs on that line dont call the cable company to fix it because thier not the ones responsiable for it you are now you changed the way it was set up to run
