The right HDTV to buy?
Answer:
LCD tvs are the choice for most avid video game players. They do not suffer from the same image retention problems and have a longer life expectancy than there plasma counterparts (based on manufacturer data). The downfall LCD tvs have become more expensive than there plasma counterparts especially as there size increases (I sell tvs at Best Buy). That said plasmas do handle motion a lot better due to there faster response and refresh rates. Yet LCDs are get better with some boasting response times of 4 milliseconds with the average LCD have response times of 8 miliseconds. Response time is very important for video games, movies and sports so definitely find out about it. LCDs also have PC inputs so you can hook your computer up to them and have a giant monitor (which I use as I type). Plasmas do have more true to life color and better black levels. If you do go plasma don't play games extensively for the first 200 hours because that is when it is most susceptible to burn in. Good Luck!
If you were planning on using it for video games I would chose the plasma tv they last longer and are AWESOME when you are watching fast movies or sports. But plasma is more expensive. The LCD (liquid crystal display) is what is found in laptops and will not be as good when watching fast things. I hope you find what you are looking for.
PS I would recommend a Hitachi

These sites, along with pro reviews, will help you determine what is best for you, and give you an idea of brands, prices, and models. Also, Consumer Reports 3/07 issue covers HDTVs. Good luck! I'm biased toward plasma and have a 50" Panasonic, but it doesn't mean it's right for you.
Reasonable price is always a good thing to look for, and so are customer ratings
