LCD or Plasma TV?

Not enough info in your question! You don't say what size screen, whether you want HDTV, and/or what your primary use will be - regular TV, digital cable or satellite, DVD player, gaming, or?

You should have a much better idea then. Then go to a store that has a large selection of plasmas and LCDs and actually look at the sizes and the pictures. Most of the answers you have received so far are so much crap, based on personal prejudices, not fact.

LCD is better. Plasmas have the burn in problem if you leave something on the screen too long.
better get an iPod
If its a big screen go with LCD. Big screen plasma's are pretty dark. I just got a 42" LCD Sanyo for wal-mart for 1000$. I LOVE it WOOOT!

overall plasma is probably better. You can get a larger TV without sacrificing quality. LCD's tend to loose resolution after 37". However, if you aren't looking for the Mac Daddy big TV, LCD's might be a little cheaper and you cannot see the difference. If you do go with the LCD please take the time to try to find one made by Sharp they are without a doubt the very best.
lcd is better for gaming
but for movies and high definition television...plasmas are juts as good

Get DLP...don't get Plasma or LCD...Plasma isn't even going to be made much longer, i give it 5 years.and LCD is only good picture on small scale (ike computer monitors)
DLP is going to take over the TV industry...MUCH better picture than LCD or Plasma...and much cheaper too!
LCD Flat panel Hi def 40".. Plasma doesn't last as long.
