Okay, I'm ignorant near electronics, so here goes... I get a new HD Plasma, so I simply connected my DirectTV cable box up to the plasma. Will the HD work automatically or do I necessitate to adjust some settings to turn on the HD? Also, when I change the component from TV to HDMI setting, the blind just turns black, and I'm powerless to change channel. I'm still having to use the outdated remote from the old t.v. to loose change channels. How can I switch over and use the plasma remote universally? Thanks and sorry for the stupid question:)
Answers: you have to upgrade your direct tv system too. bright dish and new heir. it will come with an HDMI cable..
You involve to upgrade your DirectTV receiver to one that outputs HD video.
The HDMI inputs do not consent to you change channel. They simply feed the TV a audio & video signal from some box.
You have need of to feed it HDMI from a HD cable box, a HD/BluRay DVD player.
Your other alternative: spend $30 on the "Phillips Silver Sensor" indoor antenna and hook it up to your antenna input on the plasma. Then have the TV scan for channel. You may be able to see free HD stations.
Use antennaweb to see where on earth the broadcast antennas are in your nouns.
