Does anyone still study tv beside only just broadcast (antenna")?

It seems resembling nowadays every household have cable or satellite service. I remember when cable was a terribly exciting thing to own, while we had the bunny ears. Now the technology rush make it sound as if be behind if we hold an HDTV, but in another five years or so, thall be archaic.

Answers:    In February 2008, all the ripened familiar analog broadcast channel will disappear. The only over the upper air signals will be digital. With a digital TV and an ATSC tuner, you can, right now pick-up several digital channelsfrom an antenna including HDTV versions of the web stations.
I do, i resuse to pay 50dollars a month for cable. I live contained by an apt, have bunny ears and grasp 4 channels on a sunny morning.
i watch tv near my antenna up in the attic. acquire two channels most of the time(4 and 5), and three on a virtuous day (9). but see I own it good, because i merely have an antenna, and I don't hold to worry around wheather im getting hdtv or the best sattelite or if it's obsolite because I know it is anyway.
i do... rent in San Francisco is newly too much to get extras such as cable/satellite...
I can chew over of 4 types of people
1. your first answer
2. populace at the beach next to the battery operate tv's
3. people at sporting events
4. and desolately the homeless who live in tents who also hold to rely on those battery tv's
Yeah everyone have either cable or satellite but not my sister she is so cheap that she will not foot to get cable or anything to own more channels. Gosh she don't even nick her kids to get a tresses cut she does it herself, I really feel sorry for them but next again they must like it because her kids don't complain and two are surrounded by their teenage years......Bummer!
yes they do....but adjectives those people will enjoy to switch to a digital type antenna and a digital reciever to get alike free over the air signal, contained by a few years
I do, I have to.
I earnings $80 a month for satellite and don't get any of the framework stations (Fox, ABC, NBC, or CBS). OK I do get one of the networks, but it out of Atlanta, so it doesn't achieve local news or weather. It also doesn't get anything I watch.
On my antenna I acquire all my channel in HD, but I cant attain TLC, Discovery, History, Fox News ETC.
It drives me insane. there is no cable within my area. I would payment $200 a month to have cable.
A sophisticated percentage of people are moving support to the old outdoor antennas since they own discovered their NEW HDTV sets have ATSC Hi Def tuners contained by them.....

But they still keep their dated cable or satellite boxes for the Networks that are solely designed to be part of a cable/satellite packet.

And who doesn't watch Spike TV or TNT or Food Network, or MTV or MSNBC or ......

So the newer ATSC tuners are bringing surrounded by Hi Def without have to buy the HD packages that cost $20 more....
But who doesn't WANT to watch Discovery HD Theater? They save adding more and more shows respectively year that are HD.
I do, and according to the government "19 percent, roughly 21 million U.S. households rely exclusively on free over-the-air television"

21,000,000 households, that would be maybe 70 million Americans.

Some people do it because they are greatly poor, but most do it because:

They already waste too much time watching OTA channel.

Most TV is mind rotting drivel anyway.

Studies show that TV is bad for the nouns of young children.

Reduces the amount of exercise and personage to person interaction surrounded by peoples lives.

There is a lot more to vivacity than sitting in a semi-hypnotic state within front of "boob tube", being brainwashed into buying overpriced products while study that living a morally dubious life is the norm.

PS
There is zilch wrong with 1980's TV technology that a cheap ( roughly $20 as of Jan 2008) CECB (digital converter box) will not fix.

HDTV will not be obsolete within 5 years because:

A. It takes seriously longer than 5 years for the government to chose a spanking new TV technology. Good grief, the old NTSC technology be finalized in 1947!

B. The subsequent major adapt in TV technology will be 3 dimensional TV, and that technology is nowhere close at hand ready for general service.
Even people beside cable or satellite have more than one tv and habitually that other tv is with an antenna.

Calls to the station I work for indicate that plently of ancestors still use an antenna. Prices for basic cable rise and fall a lot. Up North contained by Wisconsin my sister gets rough cable for about $25 a month or smaller quantity. Here in Central Florida it is more or less $55 or more for Basic and Standard.
