When buying an lcd tv, what does the contrast ratio have it in mind for ability, would 1200 to 1 be better than 800 to 1?
Answers: Actually Samsung has a 500,000 to 1 ratio TV. Its Amazing. but the guy above me be right about everything else. The better the ratio the much better the picture. Hope this helps!!
I've be wondering that same thing, appreciation for asking.
I'll wait to see what others hold to say.
Contrast ratio will support colors distinguish themselves from each other, so the difficult the ratio the better.
PS I think some Samsung LCDs enjoy the highest ratio 100,000 to 1.
Contrast ratio is an exalted spec. The problem is that different manufacturers use different definition and test methods to explain and test contrast ratio. So you weave up with ridiculous numbers similar to 100,000 to one for one manufacturers set and 100 to one for another's. The solely use you can make of contrast numbers is when comparing sets made by matching manufacturer. And yes, the high the ratio the better. However, high ratio are meaningless unless you watch the TV contained by a darkened room. In other words, once you get above around 500:1, you don't gain any positive aspect unless you have adjectives the lights off. There are sets next to truely high numbers, but most of the sets you see do not enjoy them.
