How do I stop my TV losing its screen colour?

Every time I turn my TV on, the screen is very pink and green. I have wafted some magnets over the screen to bring the colour back but it keeps doing it. How do I stop it from happening?

Answer:
First STOP waffling magnets anywhere .
Second ignore the clueless idiots who have answered so far !
Facts !
Your tube is not permanently damaged !
Your tube is not even temporary damaged !.
Action ! Switch set off at wall socket and leave off for at least 10 mins for the degauss thermistor to go cold !then switch on again ! this will force the TVs auto degauss to operate , now you may have to do this procedure a few times to get the full effect. If this does not resolve the problem then Reading your description again your trouble may lie elsewhere in the set, Your best course then is to call in a TV Tech .
Note ! It does not make a fig of deference whether the TV is on or off when degaussing the tube !
Cheers Pete

The best way to destroy the picture of a CRT television set, is to 'waffle some magnets over the screen'. You have now irretrievably damaged the magnetic polarity of the cathode ray tube gun. A magnetic field near the tube will drag the ions away from the screen, giving the result you are seeing.

The reason all home cinema and PC speakers are 'magnetically shielded' is precisely to avoid the kind of damage you have inflicted...
NEVER HOLD MAGNETS NEAR A TV SCREEN WHEN ITS ON.
you will damage it beyond repair.
so i doubt you will be able to fix this 1 sorry
as the magnets mess with the screen particles...
my advise would be to leave it off for a few days then try it and see if its helped
