My HDTV have a HDMI input and my cable box have a DVI output.?

If I buy a DVI to HDMI converter, will I still need to run audio cable from my cable box to the TV, or does the converter take consideration of the audio as well?

Answers:    Unfortunately TVs next to the HDMI inputs don't have a backup set of audio inputs to be used when the source box is a DVI output.....

That mechanism you will have to help yourself to the audio outputs on your cable box and connect them to an audio amplifier to get nouns...

You may want to RECONSIDER using the Cable box's Component Video/Audio connections....they are HD also.....
It's possible to transfer the audio signal as the ocular signal through the converter. Here is one example:

Yes you will have to run audio cable. HDMI carries audio but DVI does not. Since your cable box is DVI out, that resources only video. The audio portion have to be connected from you cable box to the TV or to your surround sound system.
