I have no signal to the tv in the caravan the ariel is positioned in a tree just near the caravan any ideas ?

the location of the caravan is quite secluded in a valley in cumbria. im not sure if it is a fault with the tv ariel or if its just not a good reception area. dont really want to buy a new ariel if it is the reception is there any way of testing the ariel to see if that is the problem.

Answer:
Try a booster we use one and get a good picture .
The best way ot test it is to see if you have a picture on the tv.

A valley in Cumbria? Now I wonder why you might not get a good picture there?

.
Carnot see it being the signal because how would other residents watch TV .Have you tried a booster .
Quite likely it is a poor reception area. You could enquire locally, to see if that is the case. Also, check out the BBC help site below.
If that is the problem, you may want to consider getting a mobile satellite system. You would have many more free channels, as a bonus. Maplins have a couple to choose from, at under £100.
A booster only compensates for signal loss caused by using a long cable, if the signal received by the aerial is weak, it would not be able to improve reception.
i install aerials on caravans all the time the best way to check is by getting a pro in we have all the gadgets needed to get you the best picture somebody local wouldn't charge alot to come and test chances are that you have at least 2 masts you can look at to get a picture

if you get a booster and you already has poor signal all it does is boots a bad signal

look at the people around you.. is you aerial looking in the same direction as there's if so whats there picture like if its watchable you have a problem with your aerial could be on the wrong band and also be aware that in Sept 2007 that area of the UK is getting the digital change over which in you area will require a new and different band aerial so get the pros in now

hope this is of help

The simplest answer may be to move you caravan to higher ground.
This is a bit of a no brainer (sorry) but first of all move the ariel from out of the tree (this is interfering with reception). If the signal still has not improved the next step would be to go to you're nearest caravan + camp shop and buy a few extensions for you're ariel mast at a couple of quid each.
