Can you get a cable that connects your laptop to your TV (eg for watching DVDs) - if yes, what's it called?

Answer:
If you haven't guessed by the varying responses, it depends on what inputs your TV has and the Outputs your laptop has. You'd be better off buying a cheap dvd player though. Why put the wear and tear on your computer to watch DVD's when you can get a DVD player for like $20 these days?
depending on your video card...usually you can use an s video card and av cables
If your tv has a input slot, you can use a USB cable. Read the specs on your TV to be sure which cable to get.
My laptop has an s-video out. so it just takes an s-video cable between the lappy and your tv
my television came with a lead supplied to fit to my computer. its called a pc cable. at least that that is what my t.v. manual says
The cable you need is called a VGA lead. Your laptop will almost certainly have a VGA out socket but you need to make sure the TV has a VGA input (most plasma & LCD's have one). The TV then becomes like an external monitor to your laptop.
yep called an s-video ( this will give you picture only ) therefore you will have to get phono cables as well.

You can buy then seperatly or as a package ( not great quailty leads thu)
