Hi, ive got a SAMSUNG SM940MW tv (hd ready but no hdmi) im wondering if i get a ps3 and a hdmi to dvi cable will it carry hd picture and sound? will it have same quality?

Your television has DVI inputs? Televisions usually don't have DVI only computer moniters. If your television has DVI inputs then yes it will carry HD picture (no more than 15'), however it will not carry audio.
DVI carries video signal only - no sound. You will have to run another set of cables for sound either to your receiver or TV.
