Is nearby a huge difference between 1080i and 1080p soaring definition resolutions?

Got my TV a little over a year ago and it does not support 1080p, solely 720p and 1080i. Did I make a mistake or is the difference negligable within all cases?

Answers:    Probably not on anything smaller than 45", but remember individual HD DVD and Blue Ray are broadcast in 1080p so unless you own one of those you're not losing anything. Even HD Channels only be in motion as high as 1080i and most are 720p.

The difference at a distance of 6 foot is to most almost trivial, the difference between progressive and interlaced output is how the screen is scan, progressive is slightly nicer because it eliminates peak scalines that are common next to interlaced modes usually the refresh rate keep you from notice the difference but for some this is perceptible. Depends on how critical you are on yoru video quality.
