HDMI -DVI convertor?

I just got a V plus box the other day. In order to use the HD i had to buy a DVI convertor, on recommendation from the installer. I followed all the instructions and have a nice picture but no sound. I called virgin media and they said they don't support DVI convertors as they are unreliable so can't offer me any advice, it cost me 32 quid! Does any one have any ideas how i can fix this?

Answer:
Well first off a DVI connection only does picture! It won't do sound!! So what you will have to do is if you have a set or you can buy a set of Stereo Audio Cables ( or the Red and White cables) that will go\ive you your sound!
There should be red and white jacks in your TV and your V Plus box!! and that will give you your sound!
HDMI cables are for sound and picture
DVI is Video only, a hi def picture but no audio. there is no way for the DVI connector to pass audio so you will have to buy a set of audio leads so get sound..
