Is a Sony 42" Plasma worth this much?

A friend has a Sony 42" Plasma small screen. I don't have too much detail (I am sorry) but he be just given a larger TV and desires to sell the Sony. He said he would deal in it to me for $700. Is that a good deal for a used (but within great condition) Sony Plasma Television?

Answers:    The post above me is incorrect. We are not going all HD. It is that we are going adjectives digital which is not HD.

Anyways, as for the Sony plasma; stay away from it. I don't know if you've noticed but Sony doesn't take home plasmas anymore. They couldn't compete with those made by Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung or Fujitsu. Seriously.

Besides that Sony stopped making plasmas over 2 years ago so that TV is not even close to human being current and is probably susceptible to burn in unlike current plasmas where on earth that is scarcely a concern.

EDIT: Okay, so I was wrong that Sony be not making plasmas but check out the reviews. They suck and their only competition is probably the low run out plasma manufacturers such as Vizio. They simply can't compete with Panasonic or Pioneer. If they be good they would still open market to the average consumer; which they don't.
Yes, I wish I have that opportunity.
I don't think that would other, I think that would be a Great promise!
A little more information would be very encouraging, how old is the set and what is the resolution (480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i or 1080p)
If it is a 1080i (or p) this would be a vastly good price, even a 720p would still be a contract, I would pass on it if it is a 480p because you would be looking to upgrade by March 09 when adjectives tv stations will be in HD.

If you can capture the model number of the set, google it and see what type of information you can find.

As a reference, I bought a NEW Mitsubishi 52 within 1080p set (2005 model year) 6 months after the 2006 models came out and compensated $999, original price be $3199 , I bought it at Fry's Electronics during a close-out sale.

EDIT Note to MrHan:
Thanks for catching me, your are right, it is adjectives digital that we are going to.
I'd say possibly yes. I'd hold to know how old the tv be and how many hours it have on it.

Also, for those of you who didn't know, SONY still makes PLASMA displays ... industrial models solitary ...
