S-Video Doesn't Work On My Toshiba 52'' TV?
Answer:
If you are connecting both types of video cable( composite and s-video) you may have a problem some older sets required a menu change to enable s-video. The diagonal lines point to both of these as a potential symptoms. S- video splits the signal into luminance and chromance, the color sync pulse goes to luminance side. If chroma sync amp is not configured you will get errant lines across display.
Your cables could also be the problem. Standard will not cut it.
I have heard that the s-video cable should be no more than 7 feet long, or it can cause that type of behavior, mine is longer than that..and works fine. But, I guess they do tell you that for a reason. Try a shorter one. And...it could be a bad cable.
Mine worked fine but it wasn't a Toshiba. Carefully check the plugs' pins. I found that some of them really aren't "standard". Good luck! ;-)=
Make sure non of the pins are bent inside.
It is either
1. A bad input on the tv
2. Bad Cable
3. Bad DVD player/cable box output (what ever your hooking it up with)
Assuming common sense to check the menu of course..
