Interlaced and progressive?I am doing a school research paper on the two and which is better?

Wikipedia has decent articles that explain interlaced versus progressive.

A gross oversimplification is this: if you are not bandwidth or storage capacity constrained, progressive is generally better. However, if you want to have good quality AND optimize for bandwidth or storage considerations, go with interlaced.
