How safe is it to mount LCD or PLASMA TV's on the wall above a fireplace?
Answer:
No problem, physically, if you use the correct hardware. But there is a problem with height. A good home theater set-up should have the screen approximately eye level, despite what unknowing decorators might do.
Very safe. Just make sure that the unit is anchored to a stud and not just through the drywall or plaster.
If its a newer fireplace it isnt a problem at all. There should be no heat transfer, or soot transfer. You could always put a thermometer on the mantel and check the temps if you felt better.
Look if you can put any thing on fireplace is not safe by the heat so avoid to keep it on fire place but if you want to do so then talk to expert for it i am suggesting a url from that you just go through and post your query and get the result ...

LCD is the new technology and I advise everyone to get it insted of the old Plasma, I have bought a SONY 46" LCD tv and I love it. Make sure it is HD ready and has a HDMI port.
