Sony 42" Plasma black vertical line - anybody else had the problem & if so, what was the cost to fix?

The monitor is approx 2.5years old and we have had the problem for the last week or 2. The problem is intermittent but the line (about 2-3cm wide) is there more often than not.

Wanted to know if problem is common and whether it is easy( or expensive) to get fixed?

Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated

Answer:
If it comes and goes then its possible that its a Broken joint somewhere on one of the boards.

Sony attempted to make and produce a good plasma line, but they were unsuccessful so they no longer make plasma and now they have perfected the LCD Line.

My suggestion is to get it looked at by a TV tech and see if it can be repaired.
Usually it's the panel that causing this problem. There's some IC for scanning purpose, but I think you can't change just the IC and need to change the whole panel.
In this case it's not worth to fix since panel price almost the same with new unit price.
