Go to a store and look at them. Plasma will look better for all standard definition programs. That's almost everything on Cable or satellite. LCD will be a hair sharper on Hi Def, but will look worse most of the time. The glare issue on Plasmas is no worse than your old tube TV. Burn in? Shut the thing off when you're not watching. Minor burn in will go away by itself in a couple of hours.
the best plasma TVs to buy are either Panasonic or pioneer. go to Costco and they have them all on sale. the 50 inches are now at the price that the 42 inches used to be. but as far as clarity, the LCD has more detail to the picture quality. samsung has great LCD TVs. but you can't go wrong with a 50 inch Panasonic plasma. but if you want to spend more money then get the 50 inch LCD. if you want plasma then go with the 50 inch Panasonic, but if you want LCD then go with the 50 inch samsung. but check out the Panasonic lcd's too. go to circuit city and you can adjust the TVs to see which one has the best picture. it also depends on how they have them adjusted.
