Is 1080 resoultion more visible than 720 HDTV on sets under 55 inches?
Answer:
We demonstrate the HDTV sets we sell with the 1080i signal. The difference can be seen but is very subtle, colors are more detailed and contrast differences are better. While it's true that most HD signals are in 720p, if you ever hit a channel that does do 1080i you can see it (HDnet for example). The source material MUST be done in HD, as well. If not, that just defeats the purpose. There is just not a whole lot of 1080 material out there yet. Just wait, when all the changes happen and everyone gets on the same page, these sets will be amazing. The type of display you are looking at will also make some difference as to whether, or not below 55" is okay. I have seen the 42" DLP sets in full 1080i, they look as good as their 55"and 60" counterparts. The smaller plasma sets don't look as good as the larger ones, while the LCD flat sets look good at just about any size. From there it turns into a matter of preference, and is completely subjective.
He is right, plus none of the networks are even close to providing a 1080p signal. Most of them can't even do a good 720p.
HD DVD may provide an 1080p signal, but if the human eye can't discern the difference, whats the point.
I think he is right. I could not tell the difference with my 46".
