How to connect a remote to a tv?

Instructions should come with your remote..a code!
You don't connect the remote to the TV, but I found 2 code numbers you can use to try and program into your remote, which has to be a universal remote in order for these to work. The numbers are : # 0236,
& # 0463. Did yoou get a book with the TV to tell you how to program those #s into that remote ? Did a book come with the universal remote? Use that to find out.
