Buy LCD-Flat TV don't buy projection TV.
Doesn't really matter too much, HD is HD. If you play games, get DLP, it's smoother. They usually cost less too. I like the Samsung brand. They are a reliable company, their products are relatively inexpensive, and their prducts are good quality.
LCD is by far the best HD technology. Sony does not make DLP, or Plasma, so get a Sony LCD 46" Bravia HDTV and you won't regret it. I have one. It's the best I could find in weeks of looking & comparing. The Bravia name on it is an engine(Sony calls it) that is an interface to give good resolution on HD & Digital channels.

The answer depends on your use for the tv. If you are sitting directly in front of the tv at all times and in a darker room you can go with a dlp set from samsung and it will give you great picture quality. If you are in a situation where you are going to be watching the tv from different parts of the room go with an lcd, also if you are in a brightly lit room do this because lcds are not as susceptible to glare. While projection sets are usually much cheaper, especially at larger sizes, they do tend to have more matinance issues over time and they can be bulky and hard to move around in a room.
