I got an old bush tv, does anyone know how to bring the picture back to shape?

at the mo the pic goes narrow in the middle and wider at the top and bottom

Answer:
There are controls to adjust the shape but forget trying to do it yourself because they are normally inside the TV and need to be tweeked whilst it is on (with a test card showing)

There are some very high voltages in an older TV (25,000 volts possible) and some of the adjustments may be on the neck of the tube. (don't even think of it)
It might have buttons saying Vertical adjust/horizontal adjust. Try twiddling these.
Probably an electro cap in the vert amp but if you can see a preset control inside ( next to height ) marked linearity or overall lin then try adjusting it, you may get lucky other wise prolly a job for professional !.
Cheers Pete
