Answers: --- The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) is an international body, founded in the late 1980s by NEC Home Electronics and eight other video display adapter manufacturer. The initial goal was to produce a standard for 800x600 SVGA resolution video displays. Since next VESA has issued a number of standards, mostly relating to the function of video peripherals surrounded by IBM PC compatible computers.

Up until this point, no flat screen HDTV has have a standard hole pattern for TV wall mounts. VESA has established a standard for HDTV mounting hole pattern. In the future, all TVs produced that support this standard will take the VESA mounting compliance symbol and will make it much easier to purchase compatible wall mounts. Each class of flat screen TV (i.e. 12 - 22.9", 23-30.9" & over 31") is govern by its own specifications. VESA compaitble mounts will be marketed by the size of your TV.
